Water Depth Effect to Ferry Ship Resistance with Computational Fluid Dynamic Method

چکیده
Predicting ship resistance in shallow water conditions is very important for the operational considerations of a ship. Shallow waters greatly affect viscous resistance, wave and also propulsion efficiency. This study aims to determine effect depth on ferry. The CFD method was used simulate this phenomenon its effects hull starting from coefficient surge force, sway force yaw (hydrodynamic moment). Input speed at 9 – 13 knots with ratio H/T = 4 (deep water), 3 2 (medium 1.3 (shallow 1 (very water). simulation results show significant increase total hydrodynamic moment every variation. condition caused by pressure received ship's when operating water.

Ship Squat in Non-Uniform Water Depth
The problem of predicting ship squat in non-uniform water depth is studied in this paper. For transverse depth variations, calculations are done using slender-body shallow-water theory, as implemented in the code “ShallowFlow”. Examples are given for realistic ships transiting dredged channels, and the effect of channel width on ship squat is discussed. Further examples are given for ships tran...
متن کاملComputational fluid dynamics simulations of ship airwake
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of ship airwakes are discussed in this article. CFD is used to simulate the airwakes of landing helicopter assault (LHA) and landing platform dock-17 (LPD-17) classes of ships. The focus is on capturing the massively separated flow from sharp edges of blunt bodies, while ignoring the viscous effects. A parallel, finitevolume flow solver is used wit...
متن کاملNonlinear ship waves and computational fluid dynamics
Research works undertaken in the first author's laboratory at the University of Tokyo over the past 30 years are highlighted. Finding of the occurrence of nonlinear waves (named Free-Surface Shock Waves) in the vicinity of a ship advancing at constant speed provided the start-line for the progress of innovative technologies in the ship hull-form design. Based on these findings, a multitude of t...
متن کاملComputational Fluid Dynamic- Two Fluid Model Study of Gas-Solid Heat Transfer in a Riser with Various Inclination Angles
A two fluid model (TFM) was used to study gas-solid heat transfer in a riser with different inclination angles. A two dimensional pipe with 5.8 cm internal diameter and 5 meter length was chosen. Effect of bed angle and solid particles feed rate were studied on the heat transfer behavior of gas and solid particles. Obtained results from simulation are compared with the experimental data in the...
